The AVG Rescue CD is distributed as a bootable CD and intended for operating system recovery when the system cannot be loaded in the normal way — for example after an extensive or deep-rooted virus infection. AVG Rescue CD enables IT professionals to fully remove infections from an otherwise inoperable PC and render the system bootable again. The CD can be kept updated in several ways:

• local AVG installation
• hard drive
• directly over an Internet-enabled LAN
• external source (flash drive etc.)

Comprehensive administration toolkit:

• AVG command Line utility provides full command line access.
• AVG Registry Editor for system registry processing.
• AVG IP Config tool to manage network settings.
• AVG Ping utility to test the availability of network resources (servers, domains, IP addresses).
• AVG Scan Disk to analyse and test hard disk integrity, with optional automatic error correction.
• AVG Notepad for saving notes, editing system files, etc.
• freeCommander — a two-panel file manager for more experienced users.
• Map Network Drive to quickly and easily map a network drive.
