Installing AVG 2012 over AVG 2011, 9.0 or 8.5
Recently we released new versions of AVG Anti-Virus and AVG Internet Security, AVG 2012. Over the coming weeks your AVG software will ask you to update to the new 2012 version. If you hold a registered licence, the update to AVG Anti-Virus 2012 from your current AVG Anti-Virus version is free.
If you can't wait for the improved performance 2012 brings, then you can use the following instructions to upgrade.
Follow the steps below to upgrade from AVG 8.5*, 9.0* or 2011 to our latest version, AVG 2012.
*If you are upgrading from AVG 8.5 or 9.0 you will be prompted to restart your computer during the setup. After the restart is complete, the 2012 setup will continue automatically.
Download the AVG 2012 setup file
- Visit www.avg.com.au/download

Next to your AVG version, click on Paid Version

- Click Download
- Once the download is complete, double click the file to launch the installation
- If you see a Windows security warning, click Run
Installation Process - Licence Agreement
- When presented with the AVG Licence Agreement, if you agree, click Accept
Activate Your Licence
- As you are upgrading from a previous AVG version, your licence number should already be entered here. If it's not, you can find it in the Licence Details email we sent you when you purchased AVG. You can also use our Licence Retrieval Tool
- When you've entered your licence number, click Next
Select type of installation
- Select the type of installation, we recommend Quick Install
- Click Next
Install Progress
The installation will now proceed. The previous version of AVG will be automatically removed and AVG 2012 will be installed.
Installation Successful

- Once the installation is complete, you will be prompted to restart your computer. We recommend that you do restart so AVG is completely active and you are protected.
Congratulations, you have successfully upgraded to AVG 2012
